Professional background

Carolien Kroeze received an MSc degree in biology from the University in Groningen, The Netherlands, and a PhD degree in environmental sciences from the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. She has worked at the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) in The Netherlands. Currently she is at Wageningen University, in the Environmental Systems Analysis Group, where she coordinates the research on pollution management and is involved in university education. In addition, she is at the Open University of the Netherlands.

Research

Main research fields: Environmental Systems Analysis, Environmental Outlook Studies, Integrated Assessment, Pollution Management, Environmental Modeling.

Projects: Integrated assessment studies, with special emphasis on nutrient cycling in terrestrial and aquatic systems, and modeling of pollution problems. The research includes scenario analyses and evaluation of environmental policies aiming at simultaneous abatement of multiple environmental pollution problems.

Teaching and courses
  • MSc Course: Integrated Environmental Assessment: Pollution Management
  • As former SENSE Director of Education, Carolien Kroeze has a strong link with the educational programme of the SENSE research school
